Introduction
Internode was founded in 1991 by Simon Hackett. Based in Adelaide, the ISP offers broadband internet for home and office, as well as web hosting and voice over IP phone services.

As of 2009, Internode have an estimated four hundred employees, and provide internet services around Australia.

Internet Services
Internodes starter plan offers, with a speed of 256 cobs upload and 64 cobs download, 5 GB download limit for $34.95 a month. At the fastest speed for home ADSL broadband, 8192/384, Internode offer a 5 GB limit for $69.95 a month, a 10 GB limit for $74.95 a month, 25 GB for $84.95 a month, and up to 100GB for $174.95 a month.
Along with these download limits, Internode offer 5600 GB of data that can be downloaded from their servers without affecting the download limit of the customer. Such files included in this are freeware games, open source development tools, game demos and commonly used utilized for Windows and Mac.
Internode also host the most popular game servers in Australia. Dozens of different servers for a wide range of games are offered for Internode customers. Playing on these servers does not affect the users monthly download capacity.
Internode’s Internet services have received some of the most positive reviews for any ISP in Australia. However, this does not mean they offer extremely fast downloads and large monthly limits for a low cost. No matter what ISP you choose to go with, the cost of fast speeds is prohibitive to those on a budget, due to Australia having some of the most expensive countries for internet in the Western world.
It’s interesting to note that, in the 90’s when the internet was first being introduced, Australian internet companies offered no monthly restrictions on download limits at all. It is hoped by many that Kevin Rudd’s National Broadband Network will improve the current state of affairs, however when this system will be implemented is not altogether clear.

Conclusion
Depending on the kind of online experience you’re looking for, Internode have some of the most cost-effective, fastest and reliable internet access in the country. While you shouldn’t rush into choosing an ISP without weighing up all the options, Internode should definitely be high on your list of providers to consider.
